Courses
Understanding Peripheral Neuropathy
1.5 Scientific Credits - $70
Course Overview: In the U.S., diabetes is the leading cause of polyneuropathy by a large margin. Diabetes is, however, only one of over 100 conditions that are known to cause neuropathy. After attending this session, participants will understand exactly what neuropathy is and what it entails. Participants will also learn about many of the various and diverse causes of neuropathy. Finally, participants will be better prepared to provide conservative foot and ankle care for their patients with neuropathy. Available to all certified orthotists, prosthetists, pedorthists, therapeutic shoe fitters.
Understanding and Managing the Charcot Foot
1.5 Scientific Credits - $70
Course Overview: Although only a small percentage of people with diabetes develop Charcot arthropathy in their feet, for those who do, it can be a very negatively impactful event. Charcot foot leads not only to deformity and disability, but can make one far more susceptible to developing plantar foot ulcers. In this session, we will explore the risk factors for development of a Charcot foot, as well as the root causes of Charcot foot. We will also discuss proper pedorthic management of the Charcot foot.
Compression Hosiery and Diabetic Socks
1.5 Scientific Credits - $70
Course Overview: Socks and compression hosiery can be an often overlooked medical device which can help reduce complications related to the circulatory system. In this training, we review the components of socks and hosiery and provide information regarding common pathologies benefiting from compression hosiery.
Understanding Common Foot Pathologies
1.5 Scientific Credits - $70
Course Overview: In this session, we will break down and discuss several commonly seen foot conditions. In addition to identifying and explaining them, we will also present multiple conservative treatment options for each. This session will be valuable to Certified Fitters of Therapeutic Shoes, Certified Pedorthists and Certified Orthotists.
Surviving (or, Better Yet, Avoiding) Medicare Audits
1.5 Business Credits - $70
Course Overview: If you are a DME supplier for Medicare, you will be audited. Random audits are a fact of life, and not necessarily something to fear – so long as you are prepared. In this session we will discuss the different audits that Medicare uses. We will also discuss proper preparation and how to avoid subsequent and more scrutinizing audits.
Comorbidities: Are You Seeing the Whole Picture?
1.5 Scientific Credits - $70
Course Overview: When dealing with complex (or even simple) foot pathologies, it is often easy to find focus solely on the foot and disregard the rest of the patient’s body. This can be not only a mistake, but an impediment to successful treatment of foot and ankle pathologies. In this session, we will discuss commonly encountered comorbidities with special attention paid to the geriatric patient population. We will explore how these additional concerns may impact the formulation and implementation of a pedorthic treatment plan.
Patient Evaluations for Therapeutic Footwear
1.5 Scientific Credits - $70
Course Overview: Medicare has guidelines for completing a patient evaluation before and after dispensing shoes. These guidelines can be found in a variety of documents to ensure success for footwear providers. In this session, we will explore the recommendations and identify tools helpful in meeting those Medicare guidelines. ABC Approval for: CFo, CFts, CO, COA, CPed, CPO, CPOA, CTO, CTPO.
Plantar Fasciitis: From Start to Finish
1.5 Scientific Credits - $70
Course Overview: Plantar fasciitis is one of the most commonly seen foot problems. That doesn’t mean it is at straight forward or simple to treat. In this session, we will examine the root causes of plantar fasciitis and compare and contrast conservative treatment options to determine the best approach.
Who Are the People in Your Neighborhood? The Foot Care Team
1.5 Scientific Credits - $70
Course Overview: Research has shown that success in managing the diabetic foot is more predictable and outcomes more successful when the so-called "team approach" is used. In this session, we will discuss the various members of the Diabetic Foot Care Team, as well as their qualifications, responsibilities and roles.
Management of the Pes Planovalgus Foot
1.5 Scientific Credits - $70

We will also review the current standards in surgical correction and post-surgical management of AAFF. We will discuss which flat feet require orthotic treatment, which don’t and how to tell the difference. Finally, we will present several proven management techniques for AAFF.
